About this Chic Retreat
Château Saint-Paterne is a true luxury family-run Château with the authenticity of a family home and the comfort and luxury of an elegant small charming hotel. Just 2 km away from Alençon, between Loire valley and Normandy, located half way between Paris and Brittany Château St Paterne lies in one of the most beautiful areas in France. Charles-Henry de Valbray and his team will welcome you with open arms into their home and invite you to appreciate the pleasures of life in this Renaissance period house that once accommodated Henri IV of France's paramours.
During the winter months the Château is just as appealing with the crackling of the wood in the huge open fireplace in the drawing room and in the summer guests can enjoy a pleasant stroll around the grounds followed by a dip in the pool.
Accommodation
The 8 luxury rooms and suites at Château Saint-Paterne cater for everyone; friends, family and couples. The Chambre du Parc is the most recently renovated bedroom with stunning views of the Honor courtyard and the park. In this room guests can admire the Château's great design from the XVth century with its beautiful carpentry work on the ceiling. The bathroom, which is on a mezzanine, has a jacuzzi bath and shower.
La Roseraie is on the ground floor next to a French-style rose garden with triple exposure and its own entrance onto a private terrace. La Roseraie is ideal for families with a small room adjacent to the main room with a single bed, it has access to the main terrace of the Château. In the main room there is a Polish style, four poster bed that can be made into two singles or into a double bed . All rooms are beautifully decorated some with Pierre Frey others in a provencal style or more contemporary, all filled with antiques and treasures which have been in the family for generations, some given to them by Napoleon.
Activities
Along with the salon and library there is a magnificent drawing room which is the masterpiece of the Château, it epitomises "la vraie vie de Château ". Guests can enjoy the pre-dinner aperitif before sitting down to the delicious dinner. Guests can enjoy cooking classes, garden tours, multicultural and thematic tours.
Dining
Breakfast is served between 8.30 and 11.30 A.M. In the evening the Château offers an authentic French candlelit dinner prepared with fresh vegetables and herbs from the kitchen garden. The candlelit dinner is served in the dining room at private tables.
Rates
Rates at Chateau St Paterne are per room per night and exclude Breakfast (EUR 13). Dinner needs to be reserved and is EUR 40 per head including aperitifs.
