Aquafalls Spa Hotel is a unique hideaway nestled in the strikingly beautiful Vieira do Minho hills by the Peneda-Geres National Park. 11 luxury bungalows sit amid landscaped gardens overlooking the Cavado River with a waterfall running through the centre. An outdoor swimming pool from which to soak up the stunning natural surroundings completes this memorable hidden gem.

Accommodation

There are 22 suites and 2 rooms at the beautiful Aquafalls Spa Hotel, spread among the 11 stone & wood bungalows. Bedrooms are spacious, contemporary and simple with bold striped fabrics, contemporary embroidered floral designs and warm dark-wood walls and floors. All rooms have air-conditioning, digital plasma TV and electrical black-outs, perfect for a long lie-in on a sunny day. En-suite bathrooms have double sinks and separate bathtubs & showers. All suites have great views and outdoor decking and senior suites also have separate living areas.

Activities

Aquafalls Spa Hotel has a sumptuous spa in the main building with indoor and outdoor swimming pools, edged by the sleek dark wood typical of the hotel. A sauna, hammam, sensations showers, an ice fountain (for the brave), Vichy shower, 6 couple & individual treatment rooms, a gym, personal trainer studio and ample relaxtion areas combine in this well-equipped, welcoming spa and the treatments use scrummy Sisley products. The surrounding area is great for walks & hiking with vast open spaces and the Peneda-Geres National Park is very close by. The natural surroundings support a strong population of birds, which will please any bird watcher and the 'Garranos' wild horses, only found in the Geres mountains, are a spectacle to behold. Tennis courts and a golf course are close to hand for a bit of sporting action. Rafting, paintballing and mountain biking along with a range of water sports are also on offer.

Dining

Aquafalls Spa Hotel's Splendid Restaurant offers up a scrumptious menu of international and traditional Portuguese dishes along with a specially devised spa menu with nourishing organic meals to make guests feel good from the inside out. A delicious buffet breakfast is served daily in the Majestic Room, and the Sunday brunch is a large affair, undo your belt a notch and tuck in. The Magic Bar serves up afternoon tea from the balcony overlooking the river or inside the cosy lounge area with a candlelit fireplace and warm palette of browns, reds & creams.

Rates

Rates at Aquafalls Spa Hotel are per room per night and include buffet breakfast and VAT. An extra bed costs between EUR 80 - 100, an extra bed for children aged 4-12 costs between EUR 40-50 and baby cots are free. Half Board costs an extra EUR 15 per person (drinks not included). Carnival and Easter count as high season.
