About this Chic Retreat
Casas da Lapa is a small, family run boutique hotel that sits on the slopes of Serra da Estrela, the most impressive mountain massif in Portugal surrounded by an area of national park. This village house dating from 1812, has been restored and transformed into is former glory using traditional methods and materials including stone and local wood. Whilst the interiors show off the exquisite taste and contemporary design of the owners resulting in a cosy and sophisticated Chic Retreat with 8 rooms.
Accommodation
The 8 rooms at Casas da Lapa are contemporary in design with natural wood and stone giving a soft, warm feel to them. Lovely splashes of colours and works of art adorn the walls and there are some striking design pieces in each of the rooms. The modern bathrooms are spacious and feature natural Sicilian bath products, dressing gowns and soft slippers. Both Room 3 and Room 7 can be converted into twin beds and Room 3 is the largest of the rooms for those looking for a bit of extra space.
Activities
Surrounding Casas da Lapa there are some breathtaking walks and hikes to enjoy with or without guides. Alternatively enjoy a tour in an all-terrain vehicle and explore the central massif with its green pastures, lagoons and waterfalls. Even on the coolest of days the sheltered swimming pool is always a sun trap and perfect for a refreshing dip after a day out bike riding or walking. There are some charming historical and mountain villages which are well worth visiting.
Dining
Breakfast is served late into the morning and includes home made breads, jams and yoghurts as well as local meats and cheeses. Light lunches can be served and in the evening you can enjoy creative traditional dishes complimented by a selection of delicious local wines.
