About this Chic Retreat
Amara Selous is a luxury boutique hotel which sits quietly along the great Ruaha river in heart of the Selous Game Reserve, Tanzania. Not only is it the largest Game reserve in Africa but it is also a World Heritage Site. Amara has been designed to suit even the trickiest of travellers, the 12 suites at Amara provide a cocooning environment for everyone who visits, balancing an authentic safari experience with luxury and fine dining. The camp has been painstakingly put together and decorated to ensure that it is at one with the environment and truly reflects the surrounding nature and culture. Enjoy bespoke game drives, a spa treatment or an inspirational walk with one of the highly trained and knowledgeable guides. This is the kind of place where guests enjoy snoozing to the sound of a fish eagle as much as they do being driven around the bush following big game. The team at Amara Selous is eco-conscious and they operate Solar powered Showers and have a state of the art waste water treatment plant that ensures all the water is recycled whilst the power works off an inverter system ensuring that the generator usage is halved.
Accommodation
With just 12 spacious river suites each with 90 square metres of inside space and 40 metres outside Amara Selous has set a new level of luxury in the middle of the African Bush. All suites are en-suite with indoor bathrooms and outdoor showers and are widely spaced apart each with an enclave of wild bush around it to ensure the utmost privacy and seclusion. Each suite comes with beautiful outside seating areas with a wooden viewing deck, sun-beds, and a private natural plunge pool – a blessed relief when one wants to cool down after a dusty game drive or bush walk! The suites also have en-suite lounges with a butler’s cabinet where guests’ personal butlers serve the morning call of tea/coffee and refreshments throughout the day.
Activities
There is no better way to experience a safari than on a private game drive. Amara Selous offers a luxurious experience in bespoke 4 x 4 vehicles with open sides giving guests the best views possible. With a maximum of 6 guests per drive guests are guaranteed an up close and personal safari. For those who love to explore on foot this boutique safari camp has a team of highly trained and knowledgeable guides who accompany you on some fantastic walks. Luxury river boats are used for river excursions providing a really comfortable ride. If you want to stay at home for the day guests can relax by the pool or enjoy a spa treatment open air on in-room.
Dining
The food at Amara Selous is all freshly cooked. Sumptuous and nutritious breakfasts, light and hearty lunches, and 3-course fine dining are all part of this luxury camp experience. where the chef lays out his delectable creations for dinners. Not to forget the ample pastries, fruits, cheese and another delectable snacks.
Rates
Room rates at Amara Selous are per person per night and are inclusive of safari activities (game drives in open-sided vehicles, river safaris in our spacious boats, guided walking safaris, fishing and bird-watching excursions), all meals & snacks, all drinks (except champagnes and premium hard spirits), transfers from the Sumbazi airstrip, and daily laundry. Please note that the room rates are exclusive of the park fees levied by the government – reserve entry ($50 per person per night) and concession fees ($25 per person per night). Children over 6 years are accepted and rates are available based on sharing a room with an adult. Full rate is charged for children in their own room.

Cancellation policy
A non-refundable 20% deposit required to confirm all reservations. If cancellation occurs 40 – 60 days prior to arrival, 50% is retained; and if cancelled less than 30 days before arrival full payment is retained. No refunds are given for no show, flight cancellation or departure from the property early.
