Follonico 4 Suite B and B - Montefollonico, Tuscany, Italy

About this Chic Retreat

With just 4 suites, Follonico allows guest to have plenty of their own space during their stay at this simple, stylish retreat near Montefollonico in the heart of Tuscany.  This centuries-old Tuscan farmhouse has been beautifully and meticulously restored by the passionate and space-conscious owners.  Neither a hotel nor a Relais or Guesthouse, Follonico is more of a magical experience which is difficult to define simply in words alone.  Guests are welcomed with a smile, made to feel very much at home and one thing they all have in common is that they hate to leave.

Accommodation

The suite sizes at Follonico range from 35 sqm to a maximum of 48 sqm and all come with en-suite bathrooms. Rosso Tramonto is the smallest suite, but perhaps the most enchanting.  Situated in the loft it has a spacious feel to it and the three large windows fill the room with natural light throughout the day.  The evening light is particularly beautiful as the walls reflect the colour of the sunset.  Alba Chiara has private access directly from the garden and enjoys wonderful views to the east and to the south across Montepulciano and the surrounding vineyards.  Perhaps our favourite suite Blu Notte is on the first floor and has pretty views from the balcony over the church of San Biagio to the south and the silhouette of Montefollonico to the west.   Once the peasant's kitchen, many of the original features still remain in suite Verde Intenso.  This suite is a private affair with its entrance from a small private balcony.  Offering three rooms on different levels modern architectural design blends the new beautifully with the old.  Each of the suites is equipped with free internet, temperature control and a "raindance" shower and in addition to free-sprung mattresses there is a selection of different pillows to choose from.

Activities

Just a few minutes by car from Montepulciano Follonico is in the perfect location to explore this wonderful city, once on a par with Siena.  Packed with charm and cultural interest Montepulciano is perhaps best none for two excellent wines; Vino Nobile di Montepulciano and Rosso di Montepulciano.  It is a city full of art and interesting architecture and is a must for anyone visiting Tuscany.  A little further away is Montefollonico, a small, walled medieval village and one that is definitely worth seeing.
